Survivor’s 1984 release, Vital Signs, is widely considered an Adult Oriented Rock (AOR) classic and the creative peak of the band's career. Released in September 1984 following the departure of original vocalist Dave Bickler, the album marked the debut of powerhouse singer Jimi Jamison. It successfully proved that the band was far more than a one-hit wonder tied exclusively to "Eye of the Tiger". Driven by the sharp songwriting duo of Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan, Vital Signs reached #16 on the Billboard charts, achieved platinum status, and generated three massive Top 20 singles.
