The Band "Moondog Matinee"

LP (NEW) - Vinyl, Capitol Records, Europe, 2015, 00602547206596, Reissue, Incl. Poster Insert

The Band’s fifth studio album, Moondog Matinee (1973), stands as a fascinating, soul-baring stopgap born out of profound internal crisis. Released at a time when interpersonal friction and addiction had brought their collaborative songwriting to a grinding halt, this 10-track collection of R&B and early rock 'n' roll covers serves as a sonic tribute to the music that shaped them. While historically overshadowed by the monumental original songwriting of their first two albums, Moondog Matinee is far more than a throwaway oldies record; it is a masterclass in roots-rock interpretation.
