The Beatles (commonly known as the "White Album") is the ninth studio album and only double album by the English rock band the Beatles, released on 22 November 1968. It is recognized for its diverse range of genres and has since been viewed as a postmodern work and one of the greatest albums of all time. The album received favorable reviews from most music critics and topped charts in the UK and US. It has since been certified 24× platinum by the RIAA.

The Beatles' landmark 1968 self-titled double album had a plain white gatefold sleeve with 'The BEATLES' title embossed plus a sequential seven digit copy number stamped in the lower right hand corner. The original No. 0000001 copy owned by Ringo Starr was sold at auction for US$790,000 in 2015.
