The Dead C’s eleventh studio album, Secret Earth (2008), is a stunning return to form that finds the legendary New Zealand noise-rock trio trading their mid-2000s electronic experimentations for a glorious, guitar-driven avalanche of oceanic feedback and free-rock chaos. Released via Ba Da Bing Records, the album compresses decades of avant-garde mastery into four sprawling, elementally powerful tracks that manage to feel entirely uncontrollable yet masterfully cohesive.
