The Dead C | Vain, Erudite and Stupid: Selected Works 1987-2005 (Comp.) | Album

The Dead C’s career-spanning compilation, Vain, Erudite and Stupid: Selected Works 1987-2005, serves as the definitive, masterfully curated gateway into the chaotic world of New Zealand’s premier noise-rock iconoclasts. Released via Ba Da Bing Records in 2006, this expansive double-CD set functions less like a conventional "greatest hits" and more like a carefully mapped, chronological excavation of sound. Hand-selected by the band members themselves-Michael Morley, Bruce Russell, and Robbie Yeats-the 21-track anthology successfully captures the trio’s transition from ramshackle Dunedin indie-pop subversion into the titans of completely unfettered, avant-garde free rock.
