The 1968 album Release of an Oath, credited to The Electric Prunes but masterminded by composer and arranger David Axelrod, stands as a notable entry in late-1960s psychedelic rock. The project utilizes the ancient Jewish Kol Nidre prayer as its thematic foundation while featuring studio instrumentation from session musicians rather than the original band lineup.
