Recorded on a modest $10,000 budget at a SUNY campus, this record introduced two massive figures to the band's universe: guitarist Jonathan Donahue (of Mercury Rev) and producer Dave Fridmann. Together with frontman Wayne Coyne, bassist Michael Ivins, and drummer Nathan Roberts, they created the first genuinely cohesive record in the Lips’ extensive discography.
