The Haunted’s self-titled 1967 debut album is widely considered a raw, raunchy sub-classic of Canadian garage rock. Emerging from Montreal's English-speaking community after winning a local "Battle of the Bands" competition, the group bypassed polished pop conventions in favour of an aggressive, fuzzbox-driven sound heavily inspired by the Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds.
