The Middle East "The Recordings of The Middle East"

LP (NEW) - Vinyl, Spunk Records, Australia, 2019, URA549, 0602577358579, 10th Anniversary Edition, Reissue

The Recordings of The Middle East is the breakout EP by Australian indie-folk collective The Middle East, originally self-released in 2008 and widely reissued by Spunk Records in 2009. The EP received critical acclaim for its haunting atmosphere, intricate acoustic arrangements, and "devastatingly beautiful" melodies. It is best known for the single "Blood," which builds from a quiet acoustic opening to a cathartic, orchestral climax and was ranked the 102nd best Australian song of all time by Triple J in 2025. Critics often compare the band’s sound to Fleet Foxes, Sufjan Stevens, and Bon Iver.
