Released in May 1969, Walpurgis by the Swiss rock band The Shiver is a fascinating, heavily obscure relic of the late-60s transition from heavy psychedelic blues into early progressive rock. While highly sought after by collectors of European underground rarities, it is perhaps most famous for a visual reason: it features the very first album cover artwork by legendary surrealist H. R. Giger.

Swiss band The Shiver's 1969 album Walpurgis was the first use of H.R. Giger's work on an album cover. Swiss surrealist painter H.R. Giger would go on to contribute images for ELP, Debbie Harry, and many others.
