Released in April 1969, Elephant Mountain is widely considered the creative peak of the American rock band The Youngbloods. Following the departure of co-founder Jerry Corbitt, the band compressed into a trio—featuring singer/bassist Jesse Colin Young, drummer Joe Bauer, and multi-instrumentalist Lowell "Banana" Levinger. This shift gave them a more adventurous, relaxed, and experimental edge, resulting in a 39-minute record that bridges the gap between West Coast psychedelia, folk-rock, country, and jazz.
