Various Artists | The Harry Smith Project Revisited (Comp.) | Album

The Harry Smith Project: Anthology of American Folk Music Revisited is a richly satisfying and sprawling 4-disc multimedia box set (2 CDs and 2 DVDs) that captures a series of epic, five-hour tribute concerts staged between 1999 and 2001. Curated by producer Hal Willner and musician Nick Cave, these events in London, New York, and Los Angeles brought together an eclectic lineup of contemporary avant-garde, rock, and folk artists to reinterpret the foundational 1952 Anthology of American Folk Music compiled by eccentric ethnomusicologist and filmmaker Harry Smith.
