Live at Max's Kansas City is a legendary live album by the Velvet Underground, originally released on May 30, 1972. The raw, lo-fi album captures the final performances of frontman Lou Reed with the band, recorded on a portable cassette player by Andy Warhol associate Brigid Polk in August 1970. The recording provides an intimate, "you-were-there" feeling, complete with audience chatter and drink orders audible between songs. The album features a line-up of Lou Reed (vocals, rhythm guitar), Sterling Morrison (lead guitar), Doug Yule (bass, backing vocals), and Billy Yule (drums). The original release contained ten tracks, while expanded editions include the full two sets with extra tracks.
