Waxahatchee "Out in the Storm"

LP (NEW) - Vinyl, Merge Records, US, 2017, MRG594, 673855059419, First Issue, Incl. Poster Insert, Digital Download

Released on 14 July 2017, Out in the Storm is the fourth studio album by Waxahatchee (Katie Crutchfield) and remains one of her most critically acclaimed works. It received a Metacritic score of 80/100, indicating "generally favourable reviews". Critics widely describe it as a raw, honest post-mortem of a toxic relationship. Unlike previous releases, it is noted for its "unblinking" honesty and cathartic energy. Recorded live at Miner Street Recordings with producer John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth), the album marked a shift from bedroom lo-fi to a guitar-driven alt-rock sound. The record features contributions from Katie's twin sister Allison Crutchfield and Katie Harkin (Sleater-Kinney), adding a polished but gritty dimension to the tracks.
