Released on 5 August 2003, Quebec is Ween’s eighth studio album and arguably the darkest, most emotionally vulnerable entry in their entire discography. Stepping away from major label Elektra to sign with the indie label Sanctuary, the duo of Gene Ween (Aaron Freeman) and Dean Ween (Mickey Melchiondo) channelled intense personal upheaval—including Gene’s impending divorce, Dean's struggles with substance abuse, and drummer Claude Coleman Jr.’s recovery from a near-fatal car crash—into a brilliantly unhinged gem.
