Ween’s White Pepper, released in 2000, is the band’s most polished, accessible, and pop-focused studio album. Following the maritime conceptual brilliance of The Mollusk, Dean and Gene Ween (Mickey Melchiondo and Aaron Freeman) delivered a record that swapped out a layer of their signature avant-garde "brownness" for crisp production, airtight hooks, and gorgeous harmonies. The album’s title itself serves as a clever nod to the immaculate pop craftsmanship of The Beatles’ White Album and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
