• Chat Pile

More dejected and melancholic than ever before.

Chat Pile are on the warpath to prove themselves as the breakthrough heavy act of the 2020s. ‘Who Loves the Sun’ has the band carving a new path through sludge metal. They show themselves willing to experiment and, when needed, engage in all-out sonic assault.

The band’s 2022 breakthrough ‘God’s Country’ was the moment they drew our attention fully. This existential, violent brand of sludge was as confronting as it was funny.

The album follows their haunting collaboration with Hayden Pedigo, their soundtrack work and the solid ‘Cool World’. But this release takes their now-signature sound and enhances the sonic weight and their emotional core to deliver a new beast entirely.

This is the band at their most direct (’PEN IS MALL’) yet at their most depressed (’Deep Blue’). But the second leg of the record has the band really wading through loss and misery in a way we weren’t expecting (’Family Funeral’).

This one is for the freaks and terminally depressed. Essential heavy listening.

‘Who Loves the Sun’ is available in the Store now.
