Julia Jacklin | Feature Artist

• Julia Jacklin

She’s by far one of the best songwriters to come out of Australia in the last 20 years, and ‘Pre Pleasure’ shows Julia Jacklin in full flight.

Completing a hot streak of records from her incredible debut, 2016’s ‘Don’t Let the Kids Win’ to 2019’s ‘Crushing’, Jacklin can lay her claim as Australia’s premier singer-songwriter with ease.

Going on three years since its release, we returned to this one following finding out about her side project, Phantastic Furniture.
We’re happy to say this one has aged immaculately as Jacklin delivered another amazing record.

Highlights for us were the crescendos of ‘Love, Try Not To Let Go’, which almost feel like Slowdive. ‘Less of a Stranger’ is another intimate ballad that cuts deep in a way only Jacklin can deliver. ‘I Was Neon’ is the closest we will get to a radio song, and it’s the perfect tightrope walk. ‘Lydia Wears A Cross’ sets the scene immaculately with its brooding imagery and slow build.

And finally, there’s an amazing ‘Shivers’ cover we highly recommend you check out as well. Absolute jewel in the crown.

Her work has been going on for a decade now, and remains an incredible catalogue of records and collaborations which continue to develop and excite. We can’t sing her praises any higher.

‘Pre-Pleasure’ is available in the Store now.
