Jack White | Feature Artist

• Jack White

There’s a ferocity in this Jack White album that we’ve never heard before. The guy has kept up releasing his whole career from the White Stripes to the solo work to the Dead Weather, but here, there is a renewed determination to make incredible music.

Here we have a Masterclass in the fundamentals. Focus on incredible riffs, songwriting and hone the band behind it to push the songs hard, and you’ll have ‘No Name’, a record that shows the power of craft and principles.

By far one of the best rock records of the 2020s so far. It’s everything one would want from a Jack White record. It’s tight, packs a punch and never overstays its welcome.

The entire track list is excellent. Highlights for us include the stellar opener ‘Old Scratch Blues’, the rockabilly chaos of ‘Bombing Out’, the radio rock bliss of ‘That’s How I’m Feeling’ and the cataclysmic closer ‘Terminal Archenemy Ending’.

This is a testament to the work White has put into Third Man Records and his live shows. This material matches the reputation and legacy he's shaped for himself, and carves that out now every night in the live arena.

This trumps ‘Lazaretto’ and ‘Boarding House Reach’ by a country mile and is, by far, his best solo record. After a year of listening, it’s sitting up there with the best of the White Stripes for us.

Absolutely essential. Proof that rock is alive and well.

‘No Name’ is available in the Store now.
